Job Description

SUMMARY
To direct the workflow within the department, across shifts, and ensure we are able to keep to the production schedule and meet customer delivery expectations while producing quality parts, 3 days ahead of the shipment schedule.

• Have a firm grasp of what is going on, on the production floor at all times.
• Do regular walk throughs of the department throughout the day, especially as shifts change.
• Document issues and provide enough detail to ensure issues are addressed in a timely manner.
• Distribute scheduled work orders in a way that meets delivery expectations, both internal and customer deadlines.
• Have a daily presence on the floor with limited time at your desk.
• Assist with production as necessary.
• Monitor production to ensure that all quality standards are met. Promptly address any quality issues thoroughly.
• Assist in troubleshooting issues as necessary.
• Assist with punching in/out of work orders and recorded parts produced accurately.
• Assist with maintaining an accurate inventory.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment by keeping the department organized.
• Communicate effectively with Second and Third Shift Leads daily.
• Report teammates that are not following company policies, rules, methods, and procedures to management immediately.
• Ensure proper use of PPE and equipment being operated in a safe manner.
• Document and report all near misses, safety concerns, incidents and accidents to management immediately.
• Maintain a professional demeanor, lead by example.
• Treat all teammates with respect and be consistent with your approach on situations.
• Communicate with management daily and in a timely manner when issues arise.
• Attend daily production meetings.
• Engage with new teammates on day one and help to successfully onboard them.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED required. Prior experience within the department required. Must be able to safely operate a power industrial truck. Knowledge of company manufacturing software required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as, but not limited to safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, work orders, and procedure manuals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to use measuring tools.

While performing the duties of this job during a regular shift, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk multiple miles per day, twist, bend, climb or balance, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, or crawl in awkward positions throughout the shift. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

The employee is regularly required to be on the production floor surrounded by moving mechanical parts and equipment. The employee must comply with the dress code and PPE requirement such as safety glasses with side shields, waist to floor coverage, and steel toed shoes. Temperatures and noise levels vary. Heavy forklift traffic present.

Trachte will have the right to move an established lead into another department at any time based on business needs as well as demote leads if they are not meeting the requirements/expectations of the role. Any lead that removes themselves from the position gives up their lead pay.
